Now that the biggest weekend for shopping is behind us, I think it’s safe to say the holiday season is starting to get into full swing.
Finding the right gift for your family member or friend can be tough, especially if you don’t know much about their hobby. I made a list of holiday gift ideas (both store-bought and handmade) for the home improvement and décor do-it-yourselfer in your life. And don’t worry – even if you aren’t a DIYer yourself, you shouldn’t have too much trouble tackling those projects (I think.)
Gifts to Buy
Craft supplies are a gift that keeps on giving. Whatever your DIYer’s craft of choice is, pick up some supplies so they can continue their hobby.
Is it scrapbooking? Buy photo albums, stickers, scissors with decorative blades, and high quality markers.
Do they love painting? Paint and new brushes are a no brainer. Don’t forget to pick up their favorite medium, like paper or canvas.
It goes without saying that you can never have enough storage, but when you’re a DIYer, finding a place to keep all your stuff is that much more necessary. Go the decorative route and gift your DIYer with chalkboard canisters that they can use for stashing craft supplies or baked goods.
If your DIYer loves to work in the garage (especially in the winter), gift them a space heater. They’ll appreciate it more than you know!
This graph paper notebook is for anyone who loves to sketch out their woodworking project plans or for keeping a bullet journal of current ideas and projects. No matter what they use it for, all of their ideas will be kept conveniently in one spot.
Gifts to Make
Does your DIYer boast an impressive flower garden? Here’s a way to give them a stylish way to show off their goods.
This DIY project is easy enough – all you need is some decorative sheet metal, wire cutters, scissors and yarn. Head over to A Beautiful Mess to get the full detailed instructions.
Okay, so this one isn’t necessarily homemade, but someone on Etsy made it. Close enough, right?
You can totally DIY this gift though – just head to your local craft store for supplies and decorate to your heart’s content. It’s as easy way to make a personalized gift that caters to the person you’re gifting it to and their interests.
Chalkboard Serving Tray
A DIYer that loves to entertain can never have enough serving trays. Gift them a homemade tray complete with chalkboard paint for labeling (it’s especially helpful for serving different appetizers or drinks!)
Paint a piece of wood with chalkboard paint as instructed and use cabinet pulls as the handles. It doesn’t have to be too complicated – the more rustic, the better.
Are you stuck shopping for a DIYer this year and have no clue what to get them? Whether your gift is store-bought or homemade (which DIYers love—shocker!), hopefully this list helped kick start some ideas!
